Ty Myers

A young man with blonde hair in a plaid shirt, unmistakably Ty Myers, stands on a brick-paved street with colorful buildings in the background.

I have participated in the Arkansas Apraxia Walk several years. I led my own walk team and named it “T-Y Ty Team”. The reason for this name is when I was younger and people would ask my name they couldn’t always understand me when I answered, so I would always say T-Y Ty. Through this event I have met several kids and families who are learning to navigate Apraxia. I have been a resource for them on many occasions.

Also my sister is a Speech Language Pathologist. She watched me struggle communicating and saw the difference a SLP could make in ones life and wanted to do the same.

Having Apraxia has definitely made me a stronger person. I believe what you want in life doesn’t always come easy, you just have to never give up and fight for what you want. But I also have learned that what you have to fight for is always more valuable in the end!
